LHD MARKET ALIVE AND KICKING
|
With the continuing strength of the euro against the pound, the logic behind bringing over left- hook BMWs from the Continent has all but fizzled out . But, says Martin Pearse from MCP Motorsport in Norfolk, there's still plenty of scope for buying a LHD high performance car. "Sure, I am only selling about a third of the cars I was previously, but there are still advantages in buying LHD stock from Germany. Because servicing is so dear in the UK, owners of older, performance models skimp and skimp, and when something expensive crops up they decide to sell instead of getting the work done. It's a minefield for buyers. In Germany, however, because expertise is cheaper, the cars are far better looked after and a far safer used proposition." Currently Martin has a number of interesting LHD exotica for sale, including: a mint 1996 Alpina 750 B12 5.7 with black leather and 51k that costs over £100,000 new for only £23,000; a 1997 B8 4.6 Touring in Tannen Green metallic for £21,000; a B10 Biturbo for £12,500 and a six-speed 1995 M5 E34 for £10,000. If you are interested, give Martin a call on 01263 822481 he might be open to offers. Looking for the future, Martin tips a couple of LHD specialties the D10 Biturbo diesel and the Alpina 850 which always sell, plus the 1988-89 era B7 Turbo S Coupé. They are fabulous: similar to the C635 and like gold dust to get hold of, says Martin. |
