Covering a vast mileage every year. I have probably wasted more money than most in stomaching depreciation to enjoy high performance motoring. But, a few years ago, I decided to reform MCP Motorsport, a company I originally built up in the late sixties when I dealt exclusively in Mini Cooper S based cars. This time it was to be only high performance left hand drive limited edition cars or homologation specials cars I consider to be incredible fun and virtually depreciation proof. Buy one, keep it in the same condition as it is when we sell it to you, and I am sure that you will not have to worry about losing a fortune on your 'new' car when you come to sell it on in the future.
We never stock Subarus, Skylines or Lancer Evolutions. Brilliant value they may be, but they still depreciate too much for my liking! If you fancy something really special from Europe how about letting us source you a Holzer Evo II or an Almeras Porsche? These rare motors are good examples of the criteria any MCP Motorsport car must meet for us to consider importing it. For a start I will only ever import cars I would want to drive myself. That narrows the field down a bit, but ensures every single customer and I have more than just a car sale in common.
I'm lucky to have primary sources for all I my cars from established German dealers, and because of this I have yet to receive any complaints about my cars. German cars are, in the main, far better looked after and maintained, especially when they are this special. The German MOT equivalent is much more rigorous than ours, and every single change has to be recorded in the car's log book and to TUV specification. Each car comes with a service history and all previous owners are detailed on the Brief-Log Book. You're welcome to call them and will usually find they speak English!
My personal favourites are Alpina BMWs. They are without doubt the best all round performance cars I have ever had the pleasure of owning. Originating from Buchloe, 60 miles South West of BMW's Munich HO in Southern Bavaria, most Alpina are left hand drive, and despite 30 years of production, still remain incredibly exclusive.
I data all parts and numbers relating to main Alpina models so that it is relatively easy for an owner to purchase spares when required. Many parts are stock BMW, with even Alpina wheels fairly readily available at discounted prices because of their after market popularity. There are a number of established specialists who will service Alpinas at very sensible rates.
I always look forward to seeing a new customer as long as there is a confirmed appointment, and feel happy that I can help them drive away in a fantastic car that won't cost them a fortune to enjoy.
Choose from an 850 B12, M3 B6 3.5S, B7 Turbo, B8 4.6, B10 4.6 V8 (Saloon or Touring) - they are all lovely cars and can make a very sensible buy. A V8 is a true businessman's cruiser, boasting a sports auto gearbox and switchtronic steering wheel change. Try an 850 for intercontinental cruising, great value compared to a Mercedes SL.
The M3 B6 3.5 will amaze any M3 enthusiast. Experience an Alpina M3 and you will never, ever look at a standard M3 quite the same again! A B7 Turbo is based on either an early 1984-88 E28 5 Series or E24 6 Series and makes a superb express - out pacing a nineties M5 and very good value at around £8-10K.
The Alpina B10 Bi Turbo is the ultimate saloon car. Five seats, 25 mpg, easy servicing, not ridiculously expensive parts, shattering acceleration, 185 mph top speed. All 507 cars, made between 1989 - 1993 were left hand drive. They are imposssible to change over to right hand drive.
BMW E30 M3 Hartge. Only 6 manufactured but a brilliant 330 bhp projectile.BMW E30 M3 Lotec. Very rare, as exciting as the Hartge M3.
Lotus Omega. Ultra popular, it is a fantastically easy car to drive and one of my very best sellers. I have sold a few to Lotus Carlton Club members including the chairman James Waddington.
Lancia Integrale Evolution. A cult car, the best value examples are ironically the 8 valves. Quicker than an E30 M3, a lovely `89 8 valve costs just £4,500!
DP Motorsport Porsche 935 Turbo. A German legend from a company that has recently re-invented itself with the 430+ bhp engine and mechanicals from Kremer Porsche Racing of Koln.
Kremer Street Racing 930 Turbo a full Kremer 400bhp + engine and suspension based on a 930 Porsche Turbo steet body with extra large Kremer front and rear spoilers.
Ruf Porsches. Ruf are to Porsche what Alpina is to BMW.
Mercedes E 500s. 326 bhp Porsche built Supercars. Ultimate 6-litre variants produce 400-500 bhp!
Mercedes 190 Evolution Ils. Beautifully built and very durable, nicer than an M3 and much, much rarer. Only 502 ever built.
VW Golf Rallye G60. Supercharged fliers, too many imported so prices have stabilised at around the 6K mark.
Alfa Romeo RZ and SZ Zagato. Superb driver's car.
Audi RS2. Porsche built 4x4 Supercar estate, fantastic all rounder especially in bad weather.
